We got a
little earlier start today so we could drive the 240 miles to Dawson City and
see about a new tire. Norm put our spare
tire on yesterday which was new 2 years ago that we’ve never used. Norm inspected the other tires and determined
we should buy 3 more new ones. We found
a tire store in Dawson City with the trailer tires we needed and they were able
to put them on right then. I forgot to
mention that we’ve been having some trouble with our slide out. It has been groaning and acting like it doesn’t
want to come back in. It seems to be
getting worse so a few days ago we decided we would not put it out anymore
until we could have it looked at. We’re
afraid we’ll get stranded camping out in the boonies unable to pull the slide
in. We’ve rearranged the dining table to
make a bit more room to pass through to the kitchen which makes it a little more
livable. Not ideal, but we can live
with it for awhile. We’d rather get it
fixed back in the states at our leisure.
Our insurance may even cover it along with the trim damage done by the
tire blow out we had yesterday. I’m so
glad we decided not to bring our newer 5th wheel. The roads up here can be pretty rough. This old rv has seen better days. We’re just hoping it makes it back in one
piece. It has done us well up until now
but seems to be falling apart quickly now.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hold our breath. We are staying at 0 Mile campground on the
North side of Dawson Creek. The long
days of driving are wearing on Norm so we plan to slow down a bit the next few
days.
