9/25/2014 Surfside Beach, TX

After purchasing the 5^th wheel in Houston we rushed back to Georgetown to drop off the trailer. We picked up the kids from school around noon on Friday and headed straight to Surfside Beach, TX. We decided to rent a hotel room on the beach. The kids had a blast playing in the ocean with their boogie boards. We had a great time. It was Holden’s first time to the ocean. Madi had been when she was much younger but she doesn’t remember it. So this was like her first time also. Holden is 5 and Madi 9 years old.

9/21/14 Houston, TX

We completed our volunteer position with Emma Wood California State Park in Ventura last week and headed back to Texas. Stopped by Sedona, AZ for a few days to see my old high school friend Tena whom I hadn't seen in 30 years or so. What a good visit I had with her. She still looks the same and has the same upbeat positive personality. A really fun person to be around.

Then we made tracks over to Albuquerque to see an old friend of Norm’s from Ponca City, OK, Marc. What a nice 2 days we had visiting with him. He took us up the Sandia Mountains one day along with his mother who I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with. Beautiful views and cool mountain air. I did have a bit of altitude sickness up on top the mountain but it all went away as soon as we descended back down.

Over the summer we’ve been shopping for a new, bigger 5^th wheel. We finally narrowed it down to 2 that we really like. One is a Jayco Eagle Premier, saw it in Prescott, AZ on the way back to Texas and didn't like it as much when we went through it. Nice and well built, but not exactly what we want. The 2^nd one is a KZ Stoneridge with the floor plan I've been looking for. The model we are interested in is located in Houston, TX. So we high tailed it on to Houston to have a look. We had talked with a salesman over the phone while on the road and had already come to an agreement on price and trade-in. I wasn’t sure by the pictures if I would like the fabric and a few other colors but as soon as I walked in I was blown away. It is very pretty. The pictures were apparently over exposed and washed out. We had them install a washer/dryer combo before we even got here and made plans to have the RV plugged into 50 amp and water so we can go through every inch with a fine tooth comb. We spent several hours in the RV by ourselves looking everything over. Opened every drawer, window, checked every outlet, water faucet, shower, etc, etc. Made a punch list of things we want done, small stuff, scuffs and scratches, cabinet door adjustments and such. Hope to have it all buttoned up and head to Georgetown in a few days. We've got big plans with the grandkids this weekend. Don’t want anything messing that up.

Summer 2014- Wes & San Fran

We got to see the Dallas Cowboys practice in Oxnard!

Took a Dinner/Train ride out of Fillmore, CA with our new friends and fellow camp host Shonda & Ed Shipman

My brother Wes flew out for a week. We did a lot of fun things while he was here. We drove up scenic highway 1 from Ventura all the way to San Francisco and back on highway 101. We toured Hearst Castle on the way up and spent the night in Big Sur. Then on to Monterrey where we took the "17 mile loop" with beautiful views of the coast and magnificent homes. Heading on up the coast we stopped off at a lighthouse. We met sister Mary and her husband Doug for a couple days in San Francisco. We hiked around the John Muir National Monument then down to the wharf to look around and eat dinner at Bubba Gumps.
