8/27/12 PROPHET RIVER, BC

We drove approximately 250 miles today, thank goodness it wasn’t the brutal 310 miles like yesterday.  About 50 miles short of our next camp spot we had a blow out on the highway just South of Ft. Nelson.   After a loud boom we pulled over to find our rear trailer tire was torn to shreds.  And with only 2-3 feet of shoulder to pull off on this 2 lane road.  We put out two orange traffic cones in the street to warn passersby that we were having a problem.  Of course it was a tire on the traffic side of the highway which made it more dangerous for Norm to change the tire.  The cones helped a bunch as people were able to see them at a good distance, slow down and get in the other lane.  In no time Norm had the tire changed and we were back on the road.  We made it to our camp spot for the night.  Another night of boondocking at a place we stayed at on the way up to Alaska.  An abandoned campground just outside the tiny town of Prophet River.  There was one other camper when we got there and a couple more came in later.  This is a very nice place just off the road back in some trees.
