6/21/12 VALDEZ, AK

7 Nights stay at Bear Paws II RV Park in Valdez $280.
Today is our 32nd anniversary.  Happy anniversary to us!
Last night’s roadside camping spot turned out great.  I was not bothered by traffic as it seemed to slow way down as it got late.  And the authorities didn’t run us off.  That makes 12 nights we’ve boondocked since we left Texas 6 ½ weeks ago.  Today we went into town and picked out a very nice spot that backs up to the harbor.  We were all set up by noon, then I cleaned up the rv pretty good, mopped floors, etc.  Norm washed the back windows so we can have a clear view of the harbor with the snow covered mountains all around.  After grocery shopping at Safeway we sat outside in the beautiful 70’s weather.  It’s so good to see blue sky and sunshine.  Our neighbor told us this is pretty unusual for Valdez.  I guess it’s normally cooler and rainy.  The forecast calls for rain in a few days so we’ll enjoy this while we can.  Valdez is a very small town, you can walk everywhere.  We walked down to the Best Western restaurant for our anniversary dinner.   This was recommended to us by the lady working the rv park reception desk.  The food was very good and the view overlooked the harbor.  Afterward we walked along the harbor and watched a few men haul in their fish and clean them at the fish cleaning stations located along the boat harbor.  Large halibut and rock fish.
