6/19/12 TOK, ALASKA!

The road we took today was the worst yet.  Most was okay, but some pretty rough, gravel and graded.  It was not bad if you took it slow.  You really have to watch for those orange flags they put up to warn you of a pot hole or rough patch in the road.  At one point about 60 miles this side of the US border we ran out of black top and hit gravel, hit it really hard.  There was no flag.  The transition from black top to gravel was terrible and shook the trailer violently.  Later when we stopped everything was thrown out of cabinets and all over the place.  I really thought we may have very serious damage, but most seems okay.  Norm had a few repairs to make to the back of the trailer.  The back end really bounces around, even when we don’t hit rough road.

Once in Tok, Alaska we filled up with gas at the shell station.  They advertise that if you buy gas there they let you dry camp in the back of the store if you buy gas their gas.  That’s what we did and it turned out great.  We were the only ones there until another trailer came in some time after we went to bed.

We made it to Alaska!
