April 1, 2015 On the move toward CO; but first

We completed our contract with the Corps of Engineer in Georgetown, TX.   We have a camp host position lined up at Crawford State Park, Colorado starting mid May through July 4th.  We did not want to commit all summer to one location so when this short term position came up we accepted.   The elevation is in our target area of 6,600’.  This time frame give us plenty of time to meander around on the way to Crawford, CO.

First off we took the 5th wheel back to the dealer to have a few minor things worked on.  They let us stay 3 days in their lot next to the workshop with full hookups.  We left the dealership and went a short way to Brazos Bend State Park.  What a nice park.  It’s huge with a lot of hiking trails.  They  have a large swamp area where alligators are allowed to roam free.  We definitely want to return to do more exploring here.  It would be a nice place to camp host in winter.

We were able to go to Belton and see our granddaughter play in her first softball game.  We enjoyed it so much.  It really made me realize how much we are missing while we are gone.  Wish we could have seen our grandson play in one of his baseball games.  They are the cutest!

October 2, 2014 – March 31, 2015 Corps of Engineers, Lake Georgetown, TX

We worked our winter gate attendant job at Russell Park on Lake Georgetown for the 2nd consecutive winter.  It is such a nice little park, very quiet.  We love it here.  It’s fairly close to the grandkids and we see them as much as we can Our gate job went smooth.  We completed our 2 year contract and plan to bid again next winter.  They have gone to 3 year contracts now so if we get the contract we will be committed for the next 3 winters.  Our friends that we met and camp hosted with over the summer in Ventura, CA got the summer contract at Russell park this summer.  It was wonderful seeing them again.

9/25/2014 Surfside Beach, TX

After purchasing the 5th wheel in Houston we rushed back to Georgetown to drop off the trailer.  We picked up the kids from school around noon on Friday and headed straight to Surfside Beach, TX.  We decided to rent a hotel room on the beach.  The kids had a blast playing in the ocean with their boogie boards.  We had a great time.  It was Holden’s first time to the ocean.  Madi had been when she was much younger but she doesn’t remember it.  So this was like her first time also.  Holden is 5 and Madi 9 years old.
